Argentine Lignum Vitae
("Vera Wood")
(Bulnesia Sarmientoi)
- This close relative to the famous Lignum Vitae of Tropical America is
practically identical in appearance and working properties. An
olive-green wood which is often very figured with dark streaks.
This oily, resinous wood has a spicy-sweet fragrance, and is often used
for turning - it gives an excellent polish. Not available in large
dimensions. Argentine name "Palo Santo" literally means "Saint
Wood".
